Strawberry Turnovers

These flaky pastries are made from frozen Prata skin and taste delicious.

Strawberry Filling

  • 200 gr Strawberries
  • 1/2 tbsp Butter
  • 50 gr Sugar
  • 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon Powder
  • a pinch of Salt
  • 1 tbsp Corn Flour
  • 80 ml Water

Pastry Skin

  • 5 pcs Frozen Prata
  • 1 pc Egg


Strawberry Filling

  1. Chop strawberries into small pieces.

  2. In a non-stick pan, combine strawberries, butter, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon powder and salt.

  3. Bring to boil and simmer for around 8-10 minutes while stirring occasionally.

  4. In a small bowl, whisk corn flour with a little bit of water.

  5. Reduce the heat to low and pour the corn flour mixture to the strawberry mixture.

  6. Simmer until the mixture is thickened.

  7. Remove from the flame and allow it cool down completely.

Pastry Skin

  1. Crack one egg in a bowl and whisk.

  2. Cut frozen prata skin into 2 equal parts. Do not thaw or wait for a long time after you take out the prata from the freezer or it will be difficult to shape. I waited for 1 minute before cutting after removing it from the freezer so it won't crack/stick.

  3. Add one spoon of strawberry filling at the center of each piece.

  4. Brush the edges with egg and fold into two to form a triangle.

  5. Seal the edges by pressing them with a fork.

  6. Apply egg wash to each turnover to create that shiny golden look.

  7. Bake at 200deg C for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
