Where do you usually go to celebrate special occasions such as birthday or anniversary? That’s right, most of us would dine-in a restaurant or go for a staycation. How about something different like sailing on board of the largest luxury yacht in Singapore? There are two experiences that you can choose: Sunset Sail (4-7PM) or Dinner Cruise (6.30-10PM). Check out my experience sailing with Royal Albatross for their Sunset Sail.
The meeting point for the cruise is next to SEA Aquarium at Resort World Sentosa. Here, you have to register at the designated table before being escorted to the ship. No footwear is allowed on the ship so you’ll have to remove your shoes before entering the ship. Wear light clothes and don’t forget to apply sunblock as the sun in Singapore can be unforgiving. Hat and shades can be useful too. If you want to take some pictures on the ship without anyone blocking your way, do come early. We reached at around 3.30PM and there was nobody on board yet.
Upon entering the ship, you’ll be greeted by friendly crews. A glass of refreshing mocktail will be served at your table. You can also purchase additional finger food and beverages on board. From 4-5PM you can relax and take some photos before the ship officially sails at 5PM. If it’s too hot out there, you can also chill at the lower deck which is basically an air-conditioned lounge, equipped with a bar.
The ship started sailing at 5PM. It was such a relaxing experience. Coastline looked fantastic from the water. You can see the open sea with city views and isolated islands on the background. With wind blowing softly in my face, I was transported to a sea of tranquility. A much needed escape from the hustle bustle of city life.
We ordered Baked Nachos and Cheese Platter. The food was surprisingly good. The cheese blend was so mild but it was still creamy with a slight bit of gooey melt. Taking photos of the food was another level (talk about harsh sunlight, strong wind, ever changing shadow, and the swaying!).
There were some people on board who celebrated their birthdays that day. Upon returning to the berth, the crews read out some dedications and wished them happy birthday.
Overall this was a great experience and I would definitely do this again and recommend it to anyone wanting to have a short getaway without having to leave Singapore.
